WW1 BATTLEFIELD TRIPS
Most of our WW1 trips are 3 day events from a Friday morning to a Sunday evening. The Somme in France; Ypres in Belgium;
Regular escorted trips to areas of interest. Fully escorted. We take you direct to the sites and cover every detail. Time to explore. No rush as we can adjust timings to suit your needs and help you get the most from your time on location.

EXAMPLE – BATTLEFIELD TOURS: 13th to 15th April 2024 – Ypres Salient & Passchendaele – By Fire & Gas
On Friday morning, 13th April 2024, we travel by Coach from Portsmouth to Dover for our ferry crossing to Calais and on to our hotel in Belgium.
Day One – Ypres Last Post at the Menin Gate – After our evening meal, we will drive in to Ypres and watch the moving Last Post at the Menin Gate returning to our hotel for a sociable evening or lecture.
Day Two – Ypres Salient On Saturday morning after breakfast, we will set off for our tour of the Ypres Salient. Dependant on road and weather conditions, some of the places of interest we hope to visit are: Langemark German Cemetery, Artillery Wood and the nearby Welsh Memorial, Yorkshire Trench and Dugout, Tyne Cot, The Passchendaele Experience Museum, Essex Farm, “Brooding Soldier” at St. Julien Day Two – Evening After our evening meal, we will attend the Last Post Ceremony for Members of our group to take part in the Wreath Laying.
Day Three – Museums & Trenches – On Sunday morning after breakfast and checking out of the hotel, again dependant on road and weather conditions, we plan to travel to Sanctuary Wood and Hill 62 Museum, Hoogue Crate Cemetery, museum and trenches. Then on to Calais and our journey home.
Your Tour Guide –The tour is guided by Charles Haskell, Director of the WW1 Remembrance Centre, Portsmouth. The cost is £275.00 per person based on sharing a twin or double room. The single person supplement is variable per trip.
